A mighty wind
Hailed as ‘pulse-accelerating’ by Film Review and as a ‘first rate Korean thriller’ by Uncut, Typhoon is released today through Premier Asia as a special two-disc DVD edition.
Set against the backdrop of the tense political standoff between North and South Korea (surely not), the plot revolves around a psychotic, modern-day pirate bent on contaminating the entire Korean peninsula with deadly radioactive dust with the help of an approaching typhoon. Ah, that old chestnut.
Ambitious and technically impressive, the film successfully takes on Hollywood at its own game. Click here to watch the trailer - it’s got a speed boat in it. Yknow, like Miami Vice, only… erm, good.
