Knight watch

There was a time, as regular readers will recall, when we couldn’t move round here for posts about Ashley Wing and his gritty wartime wheeze Between The Lines (tagline:‘We forgive but we do not forget’).

It’s all been a bit quiet on the Wing front recently, but now he’s back, back! BACK!!!

An email plopped into our inbox from Wing ‘just to say hello’. But what did it say? Here’s what it bally-well said:

‘Awhile back I sent some info on my last project Between The Lines… (sniiiip! That’s quite enough of that!)

‘I’m just letting you know that I have made another short called A Hard Day’s
Knight which has been shipped off to the Raindance Film Festival. We’re also looking to submit to the Cornwall Film Festival as well. Finger’s crossed people take to it. I’ll send details of the trailer soon.’

A Hard Day’s Night? Presumably the flick has nothing to do with John Lennon mugging at old-man Steptoe. Luckily, Wingo (as nobody calls him) has seen fit to include a synopsis. A synopsis!

‘A Hard Day’s Knight follows Donald, a modern day Don Quixote, who is Britain’s only professional knight in shining armour. Despite the fact that, for legal reasons, he cannot carry a sword, doesn’t have a horse, has never
actually worked, and lives at home with his parents, Donald spends his days
training, marketing, and polishing his armour, keeping himself in a constant
state of cat-like readiness for when the call comes.

‘The film explores the question of where does determination end and
delusion begin. Which side of the line you think Donald is on depends on where you draw the line in your own life.’

Don Quixote, eh? We love Nik Kershaw… Anyway, where were we? Oh yeah, our thanks go out to Ash Man for ‘keeping us in the loop’. If you’re making a movie (and heck everyone is these days) give us a shout and let us know what you’re up to. We’re pretty nosy here at D+CFilm - yknow, when we’re not shooting at windmills.

Hi Ashley - I will be teaching Don Quixote in my English classes this year and would LOVE to show your film in conjunction with this unit. When will it be available? How can I get a copy? Thanks! - Kye

[...] Regular readers (hullo regular readers!) will remember we mentioned Wing’s ‘documentary of epic proportions’ a few weeks back. It follows a modern day Don Quixote, who is Britain’s only professional knight in shining armour. Click here to refresh your memory on the finer details. [...]
