Burning off

As regular readers know, we’d rather lost interest in the whole Bethemoviestar wingding, so it was something of a shock to get an email from a D+Cineaste called Simon (hullo Simon!) bearing sad news.

Here’s what it said:

‘In a twist worthy of a movie itself, Bethemoviestar’s offices suffered a fire last week. Apparently there was extensive damage meaning the casting process has been delayed. As they say, you couldn’t make it up!

‘The whole project looks to be dead in the water. Bethemoviestar’s director Steve Nesbit wrote this on his MySpace page: “Most of our hard files have been destroyed, production and business contracts, that’s not good, they cannot be replaced or referred to.”

‘Guess Rapture won’t be happening any time soon.’

Indeed. We flipped over to the bethemoviestar site expecting to find an interview with sad-eyed director Steve Nesbit sat on a pile of rubble but unfortunately the footage hasn’t been updated since last month. What a swizz!

Nevertheless, had an interview been conducted, we’re convinced viewers would’ve been assured that things are still ‘really exciting’.

Just goes to show, filmmakers should beware of messing with ’street voodoo’. Did people learn nothing from Angel Heart?!

Hey, just came across your site and saw what you’ve written about bethemoviestar.com Shouldn’t you be a bit more sympathetic that they’ve had a fire?! In any case it looks like the movie is still going ahead and they are judging all the clips at the moment. Steve put up a new interview yesterday to explain what’s happening. Why are you so cynical?!
