Techno, techno, techno
Bit of a strange one this, viewers, so take it as you will. A boffin from the University of Plymouth is set to deliver a free lecture arguing that ‘technology is a cultural construct’. Ah, that old chestnut.
Michael Punt, Professor of Art and Technology in the School of Computing, Communications and Electronics, will give his talk, entitled ‘Technology, Desire and Imagination’, tonight at 6pm in the university’s Plymouth Lecture Theatre, Portland Square.
What’s this got to do with D+CFilm? Well, Prof Punt has had more than 100 exhibitions of his work, made 15 films and published in excess of 80 articles on cinema history and digital technology - a workrate which puts even D+CFilm to shame.
He is also editor-in-chief of Leonardo Reviews, the bestest journal for those interested in ideas and practices of contemporary science, technology and the arts. Like what we is.
You probably need more information, doncha? Well, you’d better give Prof Punt a shout on 01752 233762 or email michael.punt@plymouth.ac.uk. We don’t have a bloody clue what it’s all about but we know it sounds important.
