Those funkmeisters at Openreel played their part in Motionplymouth by staging the film competition at the Arts Centre on November 17. Not only were the audience treated to some great shorts but they were also made privy to some of Openreel’s own favourite films.
Of course there was the red carpet treatment at the awards ceremony and the acceptance speeches were wound up quickly, to prepare these guys for Hollywood of course (Billy Crystal very nearly offered his skills as compere).
And the winners were Ben Cornish, for At Any Time; Kevin Jarvis, for Across the Universe; Oli Davis and Tom Fewings, for Snowfingers; and Nick Ward for Denise at Sixteen.
Maybe it will be you next year. Meanwhile, pop along to the next Openreel this Monday at Cuba, North Hill, in Plymouth. It runs from 6pm-9pm and entry is absolutely free. Have your film screened, or just watch.
